Mr. Andrew Mitchell visited UCEP-Mirpur Technical School

Mr. Andrew Mitchell the Secretary of State for International Development praised the role of Underprivileged Children's Educational Programs (UCEP) Bangladesh in creating a bright future for the underprivileged working children of Bangladesh. He was visiting UCEP Mirpur Technical School on 16 January 2012.

The Secretary of State first went round the Technical School at Mirpur where the underprivileged working children are offered vocational training courses on completion of Integrated General & Vocational Education (IGVE) up to class VIII followed by job placement support. He also met some UCEP graduates who were successful in coming-out from the vicious circle of poverty through the employment placement by UCEP in the local Industries and workshops.  

During the visit the Secretary talked to the students of different trades and classrooms of UCEP Technical School and was impressed by the enthusiasm of the children who were learning while working for their livelihood. Dr. Ubaidur Rob (Chairperson), Dr. Mohammad Alauddin (Vice Chairperson), Mrs. Husinara Huq, Mr. J. L. Bhowmik and Mikhail I. Islam (Member), UCEP Board of Governors (BoG) were present during his visit.

UCEP Executive Director Brig. Gen. Aftab Uddin Ahmad (Retd.) explained various activities of UCEP to the Secretary of State during the visit.
