Ms. Annie Gibbs from Ragdoll Foundation, UK visits UCEP

Ms. Annie Gibbs, Producer/Director of Ragdoll Foundation, Warwickshire, UK visited and worked with UCEP students of Dhaka from 14 February 2011 to 25 February 2011. She is carrying out a research on working children of Bangladesh and has been assigned to make a short film titled "What Makes Me Happy". With the coordination by DFID Bangladesh, Ms. Annie has chosen to work with UCEP children to make her film. In her 1st part of visit she is holding workshops with working children and visiting their living and work places to understand what these children like to do and what makes them happy.

Ms. Annie visited UCEP Mirpur Technical School and was amazed by the desire of the children to be educated despite having to work for a living. She did a workshop with 14 children (age between 10-14) of UCEP Shahali Bagh School, Mirpur as a part of her research. She was surprised to see the children speaking in English without any hesitation. She was pleasantly surprised with the enthusiasm and positive attitude of the children in the workshop. Ms. Annie will be coming back again to complete her film on the working children of Bangladesh. She praised UCEP for the work it was doing to eliminate child labour and poverty.
