UCEP-BMET Hotel Management and Catering Institute

Dr. Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury, Honorable Adviser, Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare & Overseas Employment and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has unveiled the Foundation plaque of the UCEP–BMET Hotel Management and Catering Institute as the Chief Guest at Technical Training Centre, Alampur in Sylhet. The adviser expressed his impressions about UCEP's nationwide initiatives in different levels of technical training that would greatly contribute to the growth of professional skills development and will create employment opportunities for the underprivileged children of the country.

UCEP Executive Director Brig. Gen. Aftab Uddin Ahmad (Retd.) presented the welcome speech to the guests at the Foundation Laying Ceremony. Representative from British High Commission to Bangladesh Mr. Nell Angell and BMET Director General Mr. Abdul Malek also delivered their speeches at the occasion. Divisional Commissioner Dr. Zafar Ahmed Khan, Police Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner of Sylhet, Reporters of National Dailies and Electronic media and local elites were also present. Chairperson, UCEP’s Board of Governors Mr. A.G.M. Shamsul Kamal delivered thanks giving speech and Vice-Chairperson Lt. Col. Hesamuddin Ahmed, psc (Retd.) presented a crest to the Chief Guest.

UCEP–BMET Hotel Management and Catering Institute is funded by DFID and is located at T.T.C, Alampur, Sylhet. The establishment cost of the institute stands at Taka 1.96 crore (approximately) and the total land for the project is 3,600 square feet. The project has a goal to run its activities with no loss no profit concept. The Institute will offer skills training on Food preparation and cooking, Food and Beverage Service, Reception Operation and Service and Accommodation Operation Service. All the courses will be accredited by City and Guilds, UK. The trades are marketable and have been selected on the basis of market needs at home and abroad.
