Denmark Ambassador  Mr. Einar Jensen inaugurated
UCEP- Jatrabari Technical School

His Excellency Mr. Einar H. Jensen the Ambassador of Denmark to Bangladesh formally inaugurated UCEP-Jatrabari Technical School also known as Dhaka Technical School-II (DTS-II) on 18 March 2009. The Ambassador was convinced that UCEP's work in Dhaka would greatly contribute to the growth of education, skills development and employment opportunities for the underprivileged children of the country.

UCEP Executive Director Brig. Gen. Aftab Uddin Ahmad (Retd.) presented the welcome speech to the guests at the inauguration ceremony. Adviser to the Prime Minister Mr. H. T. Imam, Chair of the Consortium of Donors Ms. Barbara Payne of DFID, representatives from different Development Partners, Government officials, members of civil society and representatives of national dailies and electronic media and local elites were also present.

Chairperson, UCEP Board of Governors Mr. Ubaidur Rob Ph.D spoke on the occasion. In his speech, he thanked the Development Partners for the support and advice provided to UCEP. Vice Chairperson Ms. Parveen Mahmud FCA delivered vote of thanks and UCEP Resource Development Committee (RDC) Chairperson Mr. M. Sirajul Islam presented a crest to the Chief Guest.

UCEP–Jatrabari Technical School is located at Matuail beside the Dhaka-Chittagong highway 5 kilometer far from the Jatrabari crossing of Dhaka city.  The total land for the project is 0.90 acre of which 28,000 square feet has been used for construction of the picturesque school building. The building has the option for vertical extension to accommodate large number of students and open more trades in future. Presently the capacity of the technical school is 440 students in two shifts a day in 06 trades. From July onwards, the number of student is expected to increase to 560. The trades are: Welding & Fabrication, Plumbing & Pipefitting, Machinist, Electronic Technology, Industrial Electrical & Electronic Control & Refrigeration and Air-conditioning.
