Technical Schools

To provide appropriate skills and thereby improve the employment prospects of General School graduates, UCEP-Bangladesh provides Technical Education through its 9 Technical Schools in Dhaka, Chittagong, Khulna, Rajshahi, Barishal, Sylhet and Gazipur. Technical Schools are running training programs in 17 trades. Types of trades taught in the Technical Schools correspond to the demand of the employment market in the area where the school is located. General schools graduates seeking admission in the Technical Schools have the option, in principle to their own trades.

Technical schools run 2 shifts per day, each of 4.2 hours duration, so that working children can continue in their jobs while they acquire skills in the Technical Schools. Total enrolment in 09 technical schools is 4,406 (boys 2,701 and girls 1705). Innovativeness of the Technical Schools approach is well demonstrated in the data that attendance and dropout rates are 96%+ and below 2% respectively.

178 UCEP graduates appeared in the Secondary School Certificate (Vocational) examination held in March 2009, conducted by the Bangladesh Technical Education Board. To the Nation’s pride, 161 graduates came out successful. The overall success of the UCEP graduates once again reaffirms the competency of UCEP graduates and the prospect of linking UCEP Technical training with the mainstream of National Technical Education.
