Technical schools run 2 shifts per day, each of 4.2 hours duration, so that working children can continue in their jobs while they acquire skills in the Technical Schools. Total enrolment in 09 technical schools is 4,804 (boys 2,862 and girls 1705). Innovativeness of the Technical Schools approach is well demonstrated in the data that attendance and dropout rates are 96%+ and below 2% respectively. 178 UCEP graduates appeared in the Secondary School Certificate (Vocational) examination held in March 2009, conducted by the Bangladesh Technical Education Board.
