Mr. Ihtisham Kabir

Mr. Ihtisham Kabir has joined as the Member of the UCEP Association in 2020. He designed software in Silicon Valley for over two decades before returning to Bangladesh where he works as a photographer, writer and rubber planter. His weekly column, Tangents, now in its tenth year, appears in The Daily Star every Saturday.

He is the author/photographer of six books on Bangladesh, as well as the author and programmer of an engineering reference book on digital imaging algorithms.

Mr. Ihtisham does all the design, typography and layout of his photo books.

He has a B. S. and an M. S., both in Electrical Engineering, from Cornell University and University of California, Davis, respectively. In his engineering career in Silicon Valley he built imaging and video software at Sun Microsystems as a Software Engineer, Architect and Engineering Manager (1989-2004.) He also designed medical Ultrasound machines at Diasonics (1987-1989) and image processing computers at Vicom Systems (1983-1989).

Mr. Ihtisham has been a committed photographer since 1980 and taught black and white fine-art photographic printing at the University of California Berkeley.
