GOB Supports UCEP Bangladesh to Establish Digital Labs in its 20 Technical Schools Under the “Sheikh Russel Digital Lab” Project

The Sheikh Russel Digital Lab, a flagship project of the Government, is playing a vital role in expanding the ICT education for building a large technologically skilled workforce to run the Digital Bangladesh, keeping pace with the changing world. By establishing specialized computer labs in the educational institutions across the country under the project, the Government is speeding up the expansion of computer literacy and quality education, job opportunity, employment skills and language competency. Through this project 5,500 Sheikh Russel Digital Lab will be set up at school level to promote ICT-based education in the country.

UCEP Bangladesh has got the privilege being a part of this Flagship project. The Information and Communication Division of Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Technology agrees to establish Sheikh Rasel Digital Lab in 20 UCEP Technical Schools in Bangladesh. Primarily, the labs will cover UCEP Technical Schools in Dhaka and Chattogram divisions and to this effect a letter from Sheikh Rasel Digital Lab project (second phase) office confirms Government decision for UCEP Bangladesh. Setting up of the Digital Labs in the technical schools will open the door of learning about different IT courses for the students from underprivileged background. The labs will also help to build up the students as ICT skilled work-force and equip them with adequate skills so that they can access global market for decent work. It would help underprivileged children to explore new areas and to keep their footsteps with a vision to reach their goals and to upgrade their socio-economic conditions. We anticipate that, these labs will be working as a cornerstone for reaching our goals as Digital Bangladesh.
