On 5 November 2023, Honorable Planning Minister Mr. M. A. Mannan inaugurated the foundation plaque of Munshi Arfan Ali-UCEP Labor and Employment Institute at Shantigonj, Sunamgonj. During this time, Mr. Hafiz Ahmed Mazumder, MP and member of UCEP Association; Ms. Zahida Ispahani, Vice-chair of UCEP Board of Governors; Dr. Ubaidur Rob, former Chairperson of UCEP Board of Governors; Dr. Md. Abdul Karim, Executive Director of UCEP; Mr. Khaled Mamun Chowdhury ndc, Director General of Department of Labor; Mr. Didar-e-Alam Mohammad Maksud Chowdhury, Deputy Commissioner of Sunamgonj; Mr. Lokman Hossain, Upazilla Chairman of Jakigonj; and Mr. Sukanto Saha, Upazilla Nirbahi Officer of Shantigonj Upazilla were present.
The inauguration of the foundation plaque held at 3 PM at the site of the Munshi Arfan Ali-UCEP Labor and Employment Institute at Shantigonj Upazilla under Sunamgonj district. After opening of the foundation plaque, the Honorable Minister Mr. M. A. Mannan asked UCEP and Department of Labor (DoL) to start the detail engineering design of the construction. He suggested to start construction of the institute as soon as possible following due processes of contractor selection. Honorable Minister also handed over the deed of the land to Dr. Md. Abdul Karim, Executive Director of UCEP at his residence in the afternoon.
Labor and Employment Institute at Shantigonj will be developed under a project funded by the Government of Bangladesh through the Ministry of Labor and Employment. The land of the institute has been donated by the Honorable Planning Minister Mr. M. A. Mannan. The institute will be built after the name of late father of the Honorable Minister.
Among others Mr. Abu Ashrif Mahmud, Director of the Department of Labor (DoL); Mr. Md. Salahuddin Mahmud, Director (Planning), DoL; Engr. Mohd. Abdul Mannan, Director (Program and Innovation) of UCEP; Mr. Md. Kayum Molla, Regional Manager of UCEP Sylhet Region; and Mr. Arif Nur, Senior Specialist of Public Partnership Management were present during the foundation plaque opening of the Munshi Arfan Ali-UCEP Labor and Employment Institute.
